CGS Cross Country @ The Kallang 2026
Cross Country@The Kallang
Before the sun had fully risen, a quiet excitement was already building as Crescentians gathered for our school’s biannual Cross Country event on Friday, 17 April. The event aimed to promote resilience, school spirit, and a love for an active lifestyle. OCBC Square buzzed with energy as students donned their colourful House T-shirts and chatted enthusiastically. Competitive runners milled around the starting line, eagerly going through their warm-up routines.
Our cheerful emcees officially marked the start of the event, and soon the runners were off. Cheers erupted as friends and family members encouraged them on. Meanwhile, the five Houses and their creative mascots were introduced by the emcees. Each mascot, created entirely from recyclable materials, was brought to life through teamwork and creativity.
Just as the mini mascot parade ended, the competitors streamed back with flushed faces and laboured breaths as they crossed the finish line. Soon after, Crescentians gathered for a morning mass run alongside their friends and family. A vibrant blur of brightly coloured shirts sped past, leaving OCBC Square quiet once again. As students jogged along the route, they watched the morning rays glisten over the river.
The light breeze along the Kallang riverside path helped students relax as they took in the swaying trees and morning birdsong. As they neared the finishing line, some dramatically doubled over to catch their breath while others burst into laughter. Joy radiated across everyone’s faces, and laughter echoed through the vast open space.
As the event drew to a close, anticipation filled the air for the prize presentation ceremony. Cheers grew louder as the top 10 runners from each cohort were awarded medals and the Champion House was finally announced. Keller once again clinched the Champion House trophy after earning the highest number of points. The national anthem and school song were then sung with pride, bringing a memorable and successful event to a close.
