C B Paul Science Quiz

Competition was tough against fellow students of their own age on the 36th annual C B Paul Science Quiz organized by Anglo Chinese Junior College (ACJC).There were two rounds where only the top four schools out of over one hundred qualifies for the second round. Nine of our students from Crescent Girls’ School took part in the event with little knowledge of what we were going to face later in the papers.

First up, registration at 1pm followed by the first round where they had to sit for Papers 1 and 2. In both papers, the students had to answer MCQ questions based on the topics of Astronomy, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Physics

The most significant take-away from this event is the importance of applying our knowledge to real world situations and to think out of the box in order to find solutions to problems. Although the questions seemed intimidating, we gave our best and put in the effort to find the most appropriate answers to the questions. Some questions, however, we had to guess our way through but all in all, it was a good learning experience that taught us to think beyond our textbooks and expand our knowledge scope so as to better equip ourselves for the 21st Century problems.
