Racial Harmony Day 2014

This year, Racial Harmony Day (RHD) at Crescent Girls’ was commemorated with the theme “Harmony from the Heart.” The RHD programme consisted of an exhibition by the Internal Security Department Heritage Center (ISDHC), a Fashion Parade, Best Dressed Class competition and the showcase of the logos by the Secondary 2s. We also had the photo competition by the secondary 1s and the original compositions of poems or songs by the secondary 3s.

The one-week exhibition by the ISDHC showcased the various conflicts which occurred in Singapore due to either internal conflicts or influence from external countries. It made us realise that the existing racial and religious harmony of Singapore is not to be taken granted for.

In the RHD Fashion Parade, we had beautifully dressed Crescentians strutting down the aisle with their teachers dressed in lovely costumes of the various ethnic groups. The showcase of the logos reflected the creativity of the Sec 2s to produce creative and beautiful logos. The logos created symbolise the importance of living harmoniously with one another.

The Sec 3s raised the standard of competition to a new level when they impressed everyone with their well-composed poems and song lyrics based on the conflicts that occurred in Singapore.

Crescentians enjoyed themselves in the various segments showcasing their creations as well as taking countless numbers of selfies with their diversely dressed peers. They also learnt that it is everyone’s part to maintain the harmony in Singapore. The RHD commemoration was an event worth remembering indeed!
