Speech Day 2014
Students, graduates, teachers and invited guests assembled early on 12 April 2014 for the special annual occasion of honouring our students and staff. To grace this year’s Speech Day as the Guest-Of-Honour was a very distinguished lady, Professor Koh Tai Ann. A former student at Crescent Girls’ during the school’s early years, Professor Koh played an important role in helping to define the school’s identity by writing the lyrics to the school song.
This year, our students once again did us proud with their highly impressive achievements and awards garnered both in academics as well as Co-curricular activities, while our teaching and non-teaching staff were honoured for their dedicated service to the school and the teaching profession as whole.
The guests were treated to award-winning songs from the Movie ‘Frozen’ performed by our very own CGS Symphonic Band, and a well-choreographed performance by the Chinese and Modern Dance group. The resounding applause these two groups received at the end of their performance was testament to the talent and prowess CGS students possess.
All too soon the ceremony came to an end. As we watched the last of the students make her way to the canteen to partake of the refreshments, the voices of the students and parents who cheered for those on stage rang in our ears. Next year, it will be our turn to ascend the stage to receive our medals and feel the pride wash over us as felt by every single Crescentian today.
