National Day Celebrations 2026

On 7 August 2026, Crescent Girls’ School celebrated National Day to commemorate not only Singapore’s independence as a sovereign nation but also the multiple efforts that our pioneers contributed into making it the flourishing nation of today.

To kick off this celebratory morning, students poured into the Parade Sqaure brimming with excitement, creating a beautiful sea of red and white. Not long after the students settled down, the National Day parade began. The flag bearers came in, marching in formation to the jubilant tune played by the Band. All students stood proudly at attention as the band played the national anthem and everyone sang in one united voice, representing our nation’s spirit of togetherness. The students then recited the National Anthem from heart as many different voices merged into one, closing the National Day parade.

Finally, the true highlight of the day’s celebration, the National Day concert held in the auditorium. The performance that I remembered most fondly of was the one led by the Crescent Girls’ School English Drama Club, where they described the story of Singapore’s independence and development and the man hard choices made along the way through a shadow puppet show. The CrezChorale then put up a brilliant performance, where they sang various songs with their ethereal voices, the tunes flowing with emotion, the flags waving in synchronisation to it. The dance performance had the dancers moving in smooth motions fusing from one dance to another.

As the celebrations came to a close, the auditorium was filled not only with the excitement of the morning’s performances, but also with a renewed sense of pride and appreciation for our nation. From the solemnity of the National Day parade to the creativity and passion displayed during the concert, every moment served as a reminder of how far Singapore has come and the many hands that helped shape the nation we call home today. More importantly, the celebration brought Crescentians together as one, allowing us to reflect on our shared history while looking towards the future with hope. It was truly a National Day celebration to remember, and one that will remain a cherished memory in the hearts of Crescentians for many years to come.
