Secondary One Registration Exercise 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Crescent Girls’ School would like to warmly welcome you to our Crescentian family. The Secondary One Registration Exercise marks the start of your daughter’s/ward’s journey at Crescent. We look forward to building a strong partnership with you to support your daughter/ward as she develops into a lady and leader.


Broad overview of Secondary One Registration Exercise 2019

The Secondary One Registration Exercise will take place on Monday 23 December 2019.

You and your daughter/ward are strongly encouraged to attend the registration exercise. In the event that you and your daughter/ward are unable to attend, please appoint a proxy to attend on your behalf. (Please note that your appointed proxy will need to bring along the MOE Proxy Form, duly filled up and signed. Please download the form here: MOE Proxy Form)

Parents and students who have been allocated CSP are invited for a briefing by our School Staff Developer and SH ML, Ms Saifa Ashraf.

Registration for Subjects

·         Higher Mother Tongue Language (HMTL) Option Forms

All eligible students will be issued an HMTL Option Form during the exercise. All parents and students are to exercise their option and submit the Option Form at the School Foyer by 12:00 noon, Monday 23 December 2019.

·         Third Languages (Chinese Special Programme (CSP), Malay Special Programme (MSP), Asian Languages)

The name list of students who have been allocated third languages will be put up at the School Foyer and outside the School Auditorium. Students are required to report to their assigned language centre after the Secondary 1 Registration. More information on the date and time of the registration will be given during the briefing.

MSP and CSP are offered at Crescent Girls’ School for Secondary 1 to 4 students. Students who have been allocated CSP and MSP in Crescent Girls’ School will be automatically registered for lessons and are to report for their first lesson as indicated in their timetable.

·         Application to enrol in the Music Elective Programme (MEP)

Interested parents and students are welcome to attend the post-registration briefing by HOD Creative Arts, Ms Low Geok Pin.

Online application for the MEP is available via our registration website (registration will only be opened on Monday 23 December 2019). All applications are to be submitted by 12:00 noon, Tuesday 24 December 2019. Late submissions will not be processed.

The minimum requirements for MEP are:

o    Student must be proficient at playing at least one music instrument at novice to intermediate level.  

o    Student possesses rudimentary music theory knowledge and is able to read, write and notate music in the Western music tradition.

In addition, all MEP applicants are expected to meet the requirements of a compulsory written and performance audition. The compulsory written and performance audition will take place at 3:00 pm, on Thursday, 2 January 2020.

Applicants will be notified of the application outcome by 6.00 pm, Friday, 3 January 2020 via email. [Please ensure that the email address given in the application form is correct.]

A note about shoes:

·         Students should wear shoes which are simple in design and only in white, or school-based colours (e.g. yellow, green and blue), including logos, trimmings and laces. Black is also allowed for logo and trimmings.

·         If luminous, it should be limited to the sole of the shoe or logo only.

There is no need to purchase the school badge as all new Secondary One students would be given a badge during our Dedication Ceremony on Tuesday 7 January 2020.

For the safety and security of our students, and easy identification of all cars, all parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to purchase the car decal from the counter at the School Foyer on Monday 23 December 2019. Parents/guardians may also purchase the car decal from the General Office when school reopens in 2020.

First Day of School

The academic year starts on Thursday 2 January 2020. Students are to report in half-uniform on the first day of school (PE t-shirt, PE shorts and school skirt) and to bring their blouse and tie.

Students are required to report at the Parade Square at 7:05 am. Registration documents are to be submitted to their Form Teachers on the first day of school. More information will be given during the briefing.
