| She feels that the athletes are a special group of people who have the courage to overcome their limitations, and bravely take part in the Special Olympics. She hopes that their unyielding spirit will inspire everyone to dream about many more things in life. This project will promote and highlight to Crescentians and to the general public that the Special Olympics athletes can still strive and excel in whatever they do. In fact, they can even outdo those of us who are normal and healthy. The Project SOAR website aims to publish the achievements of these athletes and trace their thoughts and feelings about their participation in the games. Mrs Lee feels that Crescentians involved in this project will benefit from it as they will get to make new friends and understand them better. Besides, the students are matured enough to understand the problems they go through and may be able to help them live life abundantly. The pupils will also be inspired by the athletes and overcome fear to work towards the best. It will also help the pupils to realise that being the best does not mean that they have to win, but as long as you have put in your best effort, you are the best. The project also enables students to improve their writing skills, interviewing skills as well as IT skills. For the moment, everything is carried out smoothly. The project might be taken on again as it is really a worthwhile project which benefits both the community and the athletes. |
