Broad overview of Secondary One Registration Exercise 2017

 

The Secondary One Registration Exercise will take place on Friday 22 December 2017.

 

You and your daughter/ward are strongly encouraged to attend the registration exercise. In the event that you and your daughter/ward are unable to attend, please appoint a proxy to attend on your behalf. (Please note that your appointed proxy will need to bring along the MOE Proxy Form, duly filled up and signed. Please download the form here: MOE Proxy Form)

Registration for Subjects

 

·      Higher Mother Tongue Language (HMTL) Option Forms

All eligible students will be issued an HMTL Option Form during the exercise. All parents and students are to exercise their option and submit the Option Form at the School Foyer by 12:00 noon, Friday 22 December 2017.

 

·      Third Languages (Chinese Special Programme (CSP), Malay Special Programme (MSP), Asian Languages)

The namelist of students who have been allocated third languages will be put up at the School Foyer. Students are required to report to their assigned centre from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on Friday 29 December 2017. More information will be given during the briefing.

 

MSP and CSP are offered at Crescent Girls’ School for Secondary 1 to 4 students. Students who have been allocated CSP and MSP are required to register by 12:00 noon, Friday 22 December 2017 at the General Office.

 

·      Application to enrol in the Music Elective Programme (MEP)

Interested parents and students are welcome to attend the post-registration briefing by Ms Low Geok Pin/HOD (Creative Arts).

 

Online application for the MEP is available via our registration website (applications can be submitted from Friday, 22 December 2017 onwards). All applications are to be submitted by 12:00 noon, Tuesday 26 December 2017. Late submissions will not be processed.

 

The minimum requirements for MEP are at least a Grade 3 in both Music Practical and Theory examinations by ABRSM or its equivalent. However, apart from satisfying the above pre-requisites, all applicants are expected to fulfil the requirements at a compulsory written trial and performance audition.

 

All applicants are expected to take the compulsory audition and assessment at 10:00 am, Wednesday 27 December 2017.

 

Students will be informed of the results of the application before the start of the school term via email.

Booklist

The booklist can be found at the end of this announcement. More information will be given during the briefing. 

 

A note about shoes:

·      Students should wear shoes which are predominantly white, light grey* or school-based colours (e.g. pale yellow, light green, light blue). Logos, trimmings and laces should be plain and similar in colour.

·      If grey, should not be more than 70% intensity of black (as seen below)

·      If luminous, it should be limited to the base or logo only.

·      Shoe laces should not be black and shoe laces should both be of the same colour.

 

There is no need to purchase the school badge as all new Secondary One students would be given a badge during our Dedication Ceremony on Tuesday 9 January 2018.

 

For the safety and security of our students, and easy identification of all cars, all parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to purchase the car decal from the counter at the School Foyer on Friday 22 December 2017.

 

First Day of School

 

The academic year starts on Tuesday 2 January 2018. Students are to report in half-uniform (PE t-shirt, PE shorts and school skirt).

 

Students are required to report at the Parade Square at 7:05 am. They are to also bring their school blouse and tie. Photocopies of documents as proof of citizenship and registration documents are to be submitted to their Form Teacher on the first day of school. More information will be given during the briefing.
