Everbloom Mushroom farm is the first large scale commercial mushroom grower in Singapore. It is established in 1980. Everbloom is considered to be the only company in Southeast Asia cultivating Shiitake mushrooms indoors under environmentally controlled conditions, using "artificial substrate", made of sawdust and organic materials. The farm produces 1500 kg of shiitake mushrooms each day.

Everbloom has 27 growing houses with 18000 logs of mushrooms in each house. The growing houses are equipped with automatically controlled misting, ventilation and lighting. Before you enter the growing house, dip your footwear into the disinfectant bath. This is to prevent the introduction of pest and disease into the house.

Process of Shiitake Production

Substrate Preparation: Sawdust, from old rubber trees in Malaysia, are mixed with water and organic nutrients. This  mixture is filled into flexible plastic bags which are then sterilized in the auto clave machine or oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes at 140 degree Celsius.

Spawning: The spawn is inoculated into the substrate and allowed to incubate for 2 months in the sterilized room at 15 degree Celsius.

Cropping: When mushrooms buds appear they are allowed to grow to the required size in the growing houses before they are harvested.

Packing: Harvested mushrooms are then graded and packed, ready to be delivered to outlets such as hotels  supermarkets like Cold Storage, and many other places.

The graph below shows an increase in production of Shiitake, Button, and Oyster mushrooms in the farm throughout the last five years. It is noticed that every year there is an increase of 20%.
