Information on Direct School Admission to
Crescent Girls' School

We welcome Primary 6 students with talents in the areas of aesthetics, languages, IT, leadership or sports to apply to our school under the Direct Admission Exercise (DSA).

Criteria

Selection is based on the following criteria:

1. Excellent past performance in the respective areas:

  • Aesthetics (visual or performing arts) – Singapore Youth Festival, international/national competitions, music/dance examinations
  • IT – national level competitions
  • Languages (English or Mother Tongue) – international/national oratorical/story-telling/debate/writing competitions, leadership roles in promoting activities which require the demonstration of a high level of communication skills
  • Leadership – school-level leadership appointment
  • Sports – national/zonal level competitions

2. Good performance in primary school examinations (Primary 5-6). Other indicators of academic achievement may also be considered e.g. Australian English/Math/Science competitions. While any offer will be given before the PSLE, this is subject to the candidate performing well enough in the PSLE to qualify for the Express course.

3. Good performance in relevant selection test:

  • Aesthetics – art aptitude test (for visual art) or audition (for performing art)
  • IT – interview and portfolio
  • Languages – oral and written tests
  • Leadership – interview
  • Sports – sports trial

Students selected based on their talents relevant to a particular CCA are expected to join the respective CCA allocated by the school during their 4 years with Crescent.

Interested students are to submit the DSA application form with relevant supporting documents (as indicated in the form) in person or by post to:

All applications must be received by noon on 7 July 2008 (Mon).

Shortlisted candidates will be notified by phone/email within the first two weeks of July regarding the date of the relevant selection test. Selection tests will be held from mid to end July. All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by 29 August 2008.
