Gas Analysis Laboratory

Aim: To identify gases produced during a chemical reaction.

Procedure:

1. Please read carefully and understand all laboratory safety rules before proceeding with these experiments.
2. In each experiment one or two gases may be produced.
3. The following materials are prepared before conducting each test:
   
   1. moist blue and red litmus paper
   2. limewater (about 2 cm³ in a test tube) & delivery tube
   3. wooden splint (lighted or glowing)
4. Identify the gases produced with one test for each gas.
5. Record the test to identify any gas evolved, all your observations and identity of gas in your Virtual Laboratory Experience 4 Worksheet.
