Unless otherwise specified,
use enough solid to fill the hemisphere at the bottom
of a test tube.
If a sample solution
is given, fill about 1/5 of the length of the small
test tube or about 2cm3 of sample solution
for each test (Unless other specified by test)
If tests are carried
out in a solution of an unknown solid, the stock solution
may be prepared by: filling the bottom hemisphere
of a large test tube with the solid and dissolving
it in half a test tube of deionised water. Subsequently
for each test, fill about 1/5 of the length of the
small test tube
When passing gas via
delivery tube into another reagent e.g. limewater,
use as little of the reagent as possible for quicker
and more effective results
